The lesson

The lesson is about this lady name Miss Moore. She lived in a lower class neughborhood and was the only one on the block with a college degree. She teaches the kids in the neighborhood everyday. The theme of this story is that there is a big gap in between the rich and the poor and if the rich can just realize that what they may pay for one item can maybe feed a couple of families for a period of time.

A&P

A&P is about a 18year old boy who works as a cashier at a grocery store called A&P. The story began with three girls entering the store and catching everyones attention with just their bathing suits on. Due to their dressing the manager asks the ladies sto leave and not to come back until they have more clothes on. When this happens Sammy decides to stick up for the ladies and quit his job but acting without thinking leaves Sammy wondering why did he do what he just did. It leaves the reader thinking that it is important to think before you act because you are not only effecting just yourself but family also around you that may depend on you.

Everyday Use

This story was very intresting. This story is mainly about a mother and her two daughters. Her daughters names are Maggie and Dee. The family experienced a house fire when the girls were younger. Maggie have scars and her sister Dee was watching from outside under a tree. When Dee comes back and visit home she comes across a quilt. Little did she know that Maggie was already promised the quilt.The Mother want the daughter that will get the quilt to understand the family heritage and carry on to the next generation.

A worn path

The main character in this story is Pheniox. She is through out the story being visited by her dreams but before they can fish the fade and disappear. This story has alot of symbolism and theory of colors.Pheniox is able to determine people by colors. one question i do have about

A Good Man is Hard to Find

This story by Flannery O' Connor is about a family that decides to take a vacation. The grandmother wants to head towards Tennessee but the rest of the family wants to head towards Florida. Throughout the story, the characters began to show their "true colors". The grandmother began to show that she is really a old fashion lady that loves to dress in her nice dresses and hats. The two oldest children began to show how disrespectful they really are. For the farther, he shows that he can get upset if his buttons are pushed and the mother is a very laid back person. Later in the story the family decides to take the wrong turn and comes across the criminal from the federal pen name Misfit. Little did the family know that Misfit and his two friends Bobby Lee and Hiram would be the last people they would ever see and they would not be able to enjoy that family vacation they planned for.

The Hunger Artist

The hunger artist is about a guy who has the talent and ability to fast. When he fasts he doesn't go longer than fourty days but he feels that he has the ability to go longer. The butcher's watch over him every night and when their job is done they will began to eat their food in front of the artist. They do this because they feel as if the artist will give in but they later find out that he doesn't and that this is a natural ability and that he can go longer than fourty days if he wanted to. I must say that even though this story is not so much of a humorous piece, it does seem to have some humor to it as well as a point of view on fasting.

Young Goodman Brown

This story I must say was a little confusing but later made sense. This story was about Brown being in a situation that involved the devil. After witnessing many events that night, Brown then struggles with the emotion if what he saw was all just a dream or reality. Also he struggles with the Pritan sociey and his religion.

The Purloined Letter

This story was very humarious and mysterious. This story is about a letter that contain information and goes missing. The cops were unable to find where the letter could be. They searched everyone who was involved but was still unsuccessful. When Perfect later had an offer, Dupin then gives him the letter. The letter was right there all along.

The Use of Force

The Use of Force by william carlos williams is mainly about a Dr. that is called to a family home that is concerned about their dughter's health because she is showing signs of illness. As the story goes on, the family is taken back on the apperance of the Dr. and the little girl name Mathilda continue to hold that grudge the whole story. As she hold that grudge, the Dr. began to grown inner emotions for Mathilda. The conclusion to this story is that Mathilda grudge against the Dr. continue because he later discover that she was hiding a sore throat the whole time and never had diptheria. This story shows how Doctors also are people just like their patients and even though they have a job to do, they can have good and bad emotions for their patients.

HILLS LIKE WHITE ELEPHANTS

I must say that this story completly threw me for a loop. The story in the beginning, starts off as if it was just a man and a woman standing at the station waiting on the train. Later in the story I drew the conclusion that they were a "couple" that travels all the time and goes to the same station. I also believe that maybe the woman deals with some low self esteem, but also deal with a split personality toward the end of the story. I must say that this story may throw readers for a loop but it's full of great imagry.

The Yellow Wallpaper

Well I must say that this story was very intresting and had a funny twist about it. This story is mainly about a wife that is claimed to have a nervous problem and is told to basicly be on bed rest. While on "bed rest", she began to keep a journal that her husband and sister in- law is unaware about. In the journal she writes everytime that the wallpaper in their room shows a symbol or pictures of an object or person. In my opinion, I feel that the plot of the story is about a woman, who is married and discovers that being in her bedroom and noticing the weird nursery wallpaper later shows a reflection of how are life really is and how her husband may be the person who is holding her back from the world.

THE STORY OF AN HOUR

After reading "The Story of an Hour" by Kate Chopin, I must say that this story was well put together. In this story, there were parts that gave great imagry to the reader. Such as, Mrs.Mallard noticing the delicious breathe of rain in the air and the peddler crying down the road. Also when Mrs. Mallard noticed the blue sky meeting with the clouds. I must also state that this story is full of metaphors and paints a great picture of how Mrs. Mallard actually felt on the day she found out the news on her husband death.
